There is more than enough exotica in Israel – an amazing mix of people, languages, flora and landscapes; traveling in this tiny country, you can see it all. Israel also has very rich cuisine, and we will tell you about some of the most unusual restaurants!
This is the only restaurant in Israel that was included in Grandes Tables du Monde, a list of the 120 best restaurants in the world. It was also highly praised by critics of the French guideGault Millau.
Every day fresh fish and seafood are delivered to Mul-Yam. And not only from Israel, but from around the globe – shrimp, for example, is brought from Australia.
This is one of the most expensive restaurants in the whole country. Dinner will cost you 500 shekels (US$140) per person.
This amazing restaurant is located in Jaffa. You can go there only by appointment and at certain times; and now … understand why: it’s dark in this restaurant.
And it’s not just dark; it is total darkness, and the tables are served by blind waiters. As soon as a visitor gets used to the fact that his eyes are completely useless, all the other senses – hearing, touch, smell and taste – become intensified.
Then, having dinner in complete darkness is extremely interesting as all the dishes seem astonishing and remarkable. The Black Out Restaurant is one of ten such establishments around the world, and an evening in one of these places can be unusually romantic.
Of course, social conscience might provide additional motivation, since by visiting them you help support public associations for the blind and visually impaired.
Do you want to have a meal in the exotic atmosphere of a Bedouin tent with crossed legs in Turkish style?
Nothing could be easier, especially if you go to the Dead Sea. On the territory of Ein Bokek beaches, next to the Hotel Leonardo, the Taj Mahal restaurant has opened.
Here you will find low oriental sofas with a lot of pillows, red embroidered tablecloths, and authentic Oriental atmosphere where flash is combined with simplicity, coziness with hospitality.
Of course, you can try oriental dishes like hummus, grilled meat, kebabs, flat cakes and so on – but in this atmosphere of oriental relaxation, you can just as easily be served a hamburger – if that is what you want.
On the 49th floor of the center “Azrieli” you can find 2C restaurant – a fantastic viewing platform from which you can see Tel Aviv and its surroundings.
The establishment is very comfortable, with a European orientation: ceviche, Carpaccio, steaks, mushrooms, ravioli, and even Rossini fillets.
During the day, business lunches are served and wine is half price. But we advise you to go to 2C at dusk to watch the sun set over the horizon, and the numerous city lights go up.
A good choice of desserts and a selection of wines make the restaurant an ideal place for a lovely date.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are in Eilat! Prepare mittens, felt boots, and warm coat! This is not a joke!
Here, in the very south of Israel, a unique ice palace with the ambiance of Antarctica was created from 11,000 ice blocks, weighing about 150 tons, which were brought across the Mediterranean from Frankfurt, Germany.
Inside you will find figures of penguins and polar bears, ice caves, real sub-zero temperatures – and an 18-meter hill where you can go sledding. If you do not have any winter clothing with you, it will be provided at the entrance – otherwise there is a definite chance of freezing or catching cold.
Perhaps for residents of Russia and Scandinavia this choice of location will seem strange. But when it is 40 degrees Celsius (104F) outside, and in the restaurant it is between 7 and 15 degrees below zero (5-19F), the palace is a real refuge – with all the alcohol you can drink from exclusive ice glasses.
Besides alcohol, you can taste soothing hot chocolate and, of course, there’s a huge selection of ice cream of all sorts, colors, and flavors.
